VCD- lecture series poster suite

Intermediate Typography (Mark Stammers)
Spring 2011

The project brief was to design a suite of posters announcing a lecture series entitled 'The Changing Face of Typographic Design'. Each lecture poster showcases a typeface of consequence, in which in my case, they are DIN, Helvetica, and Industria. Each poster is 10"x10".

Intermediate Typography (Mark Stammers)
Spring 2011

VCD- one dram perfume

Package Design (Frank DeBose)
Fall 2010

The project brief was very open-ended – design a package using only paper for a one-dram perfume bottle. My perfume has a light baby powder scent, and so I focused on a simple and clean aesthetic with white and grayscale colors. I also added another function to the box, so that it can be used as a placement stand as well. My hope is that the consumer will keep the box and not throw it away. (we already have too much waste on this planet....)

VCD- "Up in the Air" film title

Computer as Motion Tool (Caroline Young)
Fall 2010
My first attempt in using Adobe AfterEffects. The assignment was to make a film title for a motion picture that features at least 8 titles. I chose one of my favorite movies, Up in the Air, which features George Clooney as Ryan Bingham, who makes a living traveling to workplaces around the US, and conducting layoffs for bosses who are too cowardly to do it themselves. He promotes the virtues of a life, free of relationships with people and things through motivational speeches.
Since Ryan Bingham is always travelling, I focused on the carry-on suitcase for business travel. The opening credits goes in and out of a suitcase with titles superimposed on credit cards, travelers cards, clothing tags and personal hygiene items etc. The music I used is "Security Ballet" by Rolfe Kent to give a light feel while expressing Bingham's confident and effective personality.

Photography work featured in group show

SAIC and Palmer House Hotel Develop Ongoing Exhibition

An ongoing exhibition of SAIC student work opens December 16 in the main lobby of the historic Palmer House Hilton Hotel, 17 East Monroe Street. Thirteen students in the class Palmer House: Honoré's Gift, led by SAIC faculty member Lewis Kostiner, will present photography, design, and architecture projects across media in a periodically rotating show. Inspired by complete access to the hotel, including areas generally off limits to guests, each student is working on a particular aspect of the hotel that has piqued his or her interest.

Artists include Alex Zhang, Alysha Scott, Anna Wolak, Austin Fuller, Ben Pegram, Daniel Dietzel, Elaine Li, Elliott Franklin, Eric Rowan, Julia Lachman, Kelly Morrison, Mary Clemens, and Sunwha Her. (source)
